நீதிபதி கங்காபூர்வாலாவை சென்னை உயர்நீதிமன்ற தலைமை நீதிபதியாக நியமித்தது மத்திய அரசு

சென்னை உயர்நீதிமன்றத்தின் தலைமை நீதிபதியாக சஞ்சய் வி கங்காபூர்வாலாவை நியமிப்பதற்கான அறிவிப்பை மத்திய அரசு வெள்ளிக்கிழமை வெளியிட்டது.

 சட்டம் மற்றும் நீதித்துறை அமைச்சகம் வெளியிட்டுள்ள அறிவிப்பின்படி, இந்திய ஜனாதிபதி திரௌபதி முர்மு, நீதிபதி கங்காபூர்வாலாவை அவர் பதவியேற்ற நாள் முதல் உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தின் தலைமை நீதிபதியாக நியமித்தார்.

 குடியரசுத் தலைவர் முர்மு, அரசியலமைப்பின் 217 (1) பிரிவின்படி, 2022 டிசம்பரில், பம்பாய் உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தின் மூத்த நீதிபதியாக இருக்கும் நீதிபதி கங்காபூர்வாலாவை, தலைமை நீதிபதி தீபாங்கர் தத்தா பதவியில் இருந்து ராஜினாமா செய்ததை அடுத்து, செயல் தலைமை நீதிபதியாக நியமிக்கப்பட்டார்.  மற்றும் டிசம்பர் 12, 2022 அன்று உச்ச நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதியாக பதவியேற்றார்.

 செப்டம்பர் 12, 2022 அன்று நீதிபதி எம் என் பண்டாரி ஓய்வு பெற்றதிலிருந்து, சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தின் தலைமை நீதிபதியின் அலுவலகம் சிறிது காலமாக காலியாக உள்ளது. அதன்பிறகு, நீதிபதி எம்.துரைசாமி அவர் வரை சென்னை உயர்நீதிமன்றத்தின் தற்காலிக தலைமை நீதிபதியாக நியமிக்கப்பட்டார்.  செப்டம்பர் 21 அன்று ஓய்வு பெறுகிறார். அதன்பிறகு, நீதிபதி டி ராஜா சென்னை உயர்நீதிமன்றத்தின் தற்காலிக தலைமை நீதிபதியாக பொறுப்பேற்றார்.

 மே 24, 1962 இல் பிறந்த நீதிபதி கங்காபூர்வாலா, எல்.எல்.பி முடித்த பிறகு, 1985 இல் வழக்கறிஞராகப் பயிற்சியைத் தொடங்கி, வழக்குரைஞர் எஸ்.என். லோயாவின் அறையில் சேர்ந்தார், விசாரணை நீதிமன்றம், உயர் நீதிமன்றம் மற்றும் கடன் மீட்புத் தீர்ப்பாயத்தில் பயிற்சி பெற்றார்.  அவர் சென்ட்ரல் பாங்க் ஆஃப் இந்தியா, பாம்பே மெர்கன்டைல் ​​கூட்டுறவு வங்கி, ஜல்கான் ஜனதா சககாரி வங்கி மற்றும் பிற கார்ப்பரேட் அமைப்புகள் மற்றும் டாக்டர் பாபாசாகேப் அம்பேத்கர் மராத்வாடா பல்கலைக்கழகம் போன்ற நிதி நிறுவனங்களுக்கு வழக்கறிஞராக இருந்தார்.

 1999-ம் ஆண்டு மகாராஷ்டிராவில் நடந்த கலவரம் தொடர்பாக நீதிபதி கங்கபூர்வாலா நீதிபதி மானே கமிஷன் முன் அரசு சார்பில் ஆஜரானார்.

 ஆர்வமுள்ள விளையாட்டு வீரர், அவர் தேசிய அளவில் புல்வெளி டென்னிஸ் விளையாடினார் மற்றும் டாக்டர் பாபாசாகேப் அம்பேத்கர் மராத்வாடா பல்கலைக்கழகத்தை ஆறு முறை பிரதிநிதித்துவப்படுத்தினார் மற்றும் அகில இந்திய பல்கலைக்கழக போட்டியில் இரண்டு முறை கேப்டனாக இருந்தார்.  மாநில அளவில் கூடைப்பந்து விளையாடினார்.  நீதிபதி கங்காபூர்வாலா 1991 ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் மார்ச் 13, 2010 அன்று பம்பாய் உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தின் கூடுதல் நீதிபதியாக பதவி உயர்வு பெறும் வரை எம்பி சட்டக் கல்லூரியில் கௌரவ பகுதி நேர விரிவுரையாளராக இருந்தார்.

*Centre clears appointment of Justice Gangapurwala as Madras HC CJ*

The Centre Friday issued a notification for the appointment of  Justice Sanjay V Gangapurwala  as the Chief Justice of Madras High Court.

As per notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice, the President of India Droupadi Murmu appointed  Justice Gangapurwala as the Chief Justices of the  High Court from the date he assume office.

President Murmu, as per powers conferred by Article 217 (1) of the Constitution, had in December 2022 appointed Justice Gangapurwala, who is the senior most judge at the Bombay High Court, as the Acting Chief Justice after Chief Justice Dipankar Datta had relinquished office and had taken oath as a judge of the Supreme Court on December 12, 2022.

The office of the Chief Justice of Madras High Court has been lying vacant for quite some time, since the retirement of Justice M N Bhandari on September 12, 2022. Thereafter, Justice M Duraiswamy was made the Acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court till his retirement on September 21. Thereafter, Justice T Raja took over the charge as the Acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.

Born on May 24, 1962, Justice Gangapurwala, after completing LLB, commenced his practice as a lawyer in 1985 and joined the chambers of advocate S N Loya, practised in trial court, High Court and the Debt Recovery Tribunal. He was an advocate for financial institutions such as Central Bank of India, Bombay Mercantile Cooperative Bank, Jalgaon Janata Sahakari Bank and other corporate bodies as well as Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University.

Justice Gangapurwala represented the government before the Justice Mane Commission on the riots in Maharashtra in 1999.

A keen sportsman, he played lawn tennis at the national level and represented Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University six times and captained it twice in the all-India university tournament. He also played basketball at the state level. Justice Gangapurwala was an honorary part-time lecturer in M P Law College from 1991 till his elevation as additional judge of Bombay High Court on March 13, 2010.
